30 Weeks

Well in case you were wondering, life IMG_7535is certainly bigger with twins! Today marks 30 weeks
with our baby girls. Here’s a side by side from when I was pregnant with Jude (left) and now the girls (on the right). Today I also hit one of my milestones- I’ve been super anxious, excited and ready to make it to the 30s. Here’s to getting even closer to our delivery date and the arrival of what we are praying will be two healthy babies. Currently no major complaints- I’m getting more and more tired, heartburn is getting worse but i’m managing and moving/walking is slower and more uncomfortable (especially at night after a long day).  6 more weeks to go! Can’t wait!

15 Months!

IMG_7606 Our sweet boy is 15 months today! He is growing and changing so much its hard to capture it all! He currently weighs 21 pounds and is about 30 inches tall. Despite his dad’s 6’3″ height our little man is hanging in right around the 25th percentile for his size. He is finally growing out of his 12 month clothes and now wears 12-18 month (Old Navy and Gap) and 18 month clothes (Carters).

Jude is running all over the place and prefers to walk into school instead of being carried. Still no definite words but the closest is when he holds a phone, remote or anything else up to his ear and says “hi!” 🙂 He can say please, more and all done in sign language and also waves bye and night night.

He still loves his paci and also enjoys playing outside with his Little Tikes car, as well as playing with balls, cars, trucks, books, Little People playsets and any boxes, bags or anything else random laying around the house.

This boy is keeping us running around and on our toys but we are loving every minute. He’s a handful and tons of fun all at the same time 🙂

His current schedule during the day is..

  • 7AM: Wake and Breakfast with Milk
  • 9:30AM: Snack at school
  • 12:00PM: Lunch and Milk at school
  • 1:30PM-3:30PM: NAP
  • 3:30PM: Snack at school
  • 6:00PM: Dinner and Milk
  • 6:30PM: Bath
  • 7:00PM: Bed

1 year!

Our little man officially turned ONE on Friday! I can’t believe how fast this year has gone.  Our lives forever changed when we welcomed him into our family one year ago. We truly love him more and more every day and are so blessed to have him in our lives. We absolutely love watching him learn and grow!

Jude weighs 19 lb 12 oz and is 29.5 in long. He is currently in the 25 percentile for height and weight. He is no longer a fan of baby food (even though I try to sneak it in there from time to time) but prefers to eat whatever we are eating. He still LOVES playing outside, loves the water and going on walks through the park in his stroller. His new favorite thing is swinging at the park. He is also a big fan of rolling (and throwing) balls and playing with trucks. This kid is all boy!

To celebrate his 1st birthday we had a small party at our home with some close friends and family. Jude mastered the art of cake smashing like a champ. For a list of where we got our decor and my menu for the day check out this post.  I’d consider this birthday a success!

Planning a 1st Birthday Party

Our little man just turned one and here is a list of all of our food and decor for the main event!

Menu: IMG_5078

  • Pigs in a blanket
  • Veggie Tray
  • Apples with toffee dip
  • Sausage and cheese dip (recipe coming soon!)
  • Caprese sticks (fresh mozzarella, tomato and fresh basil)
  • Sugar cookies with blue icing
  • Cake (If you order from Publix for a 1st birthday you’ll get a smash cake for free!)
  • Basil Lemonade
  • Sweet Tea

Decor:

  • We got most of our party decor from BirthdayExpress.com. Plates, napkins, streamers, balloons and even a banner were all from this 1st birthday theme. It makes party planning simple for those who are on a budget or have limited time and just want a one stop shop.
  • I created a banner with all of Jude’s monthly pictures by printing my Instagram pictures through Social Print Studio. I like using them because the pictures are printed matte and on a very thick paper. I hung them on twine using paper clips and then added a colored fabric banner underneath. Instant mantel decor!

Big News in the Harvey Home!

10252055_10101256780967789_1894454988634433700_n

We have some exciting news in the Harvey Home! We are adding not one, but two more Harveys to our family! That’s right- we are expecting TWINS and we couldn’t be more excited! I am officially 10 weeks now and the morning (aka all day) sickness has been pretty intense so its been pretty tough to for me to make it through the day by day, let alone cook or post on the blog lately- so forgive me for my tardiness these last few weeks. While I can’t promise any new recipes in the very new future (I’m living on cereal these days) I will be posting more about pregnancy with multiples and preparing to go from a family of 3 to a family of 5.

Here are the answers to the common questions I’ve gotten so far..

  • I’m 10 weeks and due October 26. Praying we make it close to our due date but we will be prepared early and definitely expect to meet our babies by mid October. (Average delivery for twins is at 35 weeks but we are praying to beat those odds!)
  • No, we don’t know if they are identical or fraternal yet… and while my doctor did confirm that they are in two different sacs that doesn’t necessarily mean they are fraternal. They could still be identical.
  • Yes, twins are common on my side of the family. And yes, I was surprised to find this out once we told my parents the news and my mom told me about our long family history of twins. I had NO clue.
  • Yes, we will find out the genders! We are planners and I’ve got lots of planning to do! Not to mention we need to figure out their names.. goodness.. we were still talking about baby names in the delivery room with our little man! It’s so hard to name a human!
  • No, I don’t feel great (i.e. the all day sickness mentioned above) and yes I’m exhausted but hey- I’ve got a 10 month old, an injured pup at home (more on that later), a husband who has been going above and beyond these last few weeks, a home and full time job to take care of- not to mention friends and family to keep in touch with and share these joy-filled moments with. So I don’t feel great but I’m hanging in there!
  • Yes, we are OVERJOYED at the idea of adding two more to our home in just 7 short months. It’s going to be a wild ride but we are excited and blessed and can’t wait to take on this next adventure. I hope you’ll join us 🙂

So more to come on pregnancy, babies, and now… multiples!

9 Months!

IMG_2510-1Our boy is 9 months old today! I can’t believe it! (Guest appearance in the picture by our sweet pup Toby 🙂 ). Our 6 lb 12 oz little baby has now grown to 18 lb 10 oz! Time seriously has gone by so so fast. I’m trying to hold on to each little memory as best as I can while watching him learn and grow and discover everything around him. This boy can sit completely on his own, he loves to stand, roll, talk, SMILE. He loves people, sleep, eating his bottle and fruits (not so much veggies!) and being active- pulling up on our fingers and raising his arms out or up to be held (LOVE that by the way!) He is not at all interested in crawling. I honestly think this boy will walk before he crawls!

He is in the mid percentiles for height (28.25 in) and weight but fits well into 12 month clothes and 6-12 month clothes. It’s still funny how “off” different brands are. For some stores his size is still considered a “baby” while others he fits in “toddler” clothes- it really is baffling how different each store and brand really are.  In Carters he wears 12 month, Koala Baby 18 month, Gap and Old Navy 6-12 month. We are all over the place but I think I’ve finally gotten it down and resisted the urge to buy too much “ahead of time” not knowing what size we will be in during what season.

I am absolutely loving this season and loving how interactive our little man is. He is such a treasure and we are so thankful for his addition to our lives!

Merry Christmas!

What a joy to celebrate the Christmas season with our sweet little boy and his First Christmas! We spent the day with our family eating amazing food, giving and unwrapping presents and just sharing a special day together. Our boy loved the bows and wrapping paper (of course) and it was so fun to watch him experience this day with pure delight and joy in his eyes! I really do wish that every day could be Christmas!

Fall Family Photos

It’s officially fall! Which means hot Peppermint Mochas from Starbucks, tall boots, warm coats and fall family photos for our annual Christmas card! I had to take this opportunity to give a shout out to our long time friend and photographer Alea Moore. Kyle and I met Alea when we met each other – back on a mission trip to Haiti in 2010. Alea and her sweet husband A.P. were on that trip and that was the beginning of my friendship with Kyle and the eventual start to our relationship! So fun to think back on those sweet moments! Alea is incredibly talented! She captured our engagement pictures as well as our wedding back in 2011 and so it was about time we checked back in with her to get some updated photos for our growing family. Thanks Alea for continuing to capture the sweet moments and memories of our family through the years! We are so thankful for you! For a peek at our fall family photo shoot click here.
